Kafue National Park, the largest and oldest park in Zambia, is one of the last great expanses of remote and unspoiled wilderness in Africa. 22,400 square kilometers of pristine African bush to explore in open 4x4 game viewers, by boat on the mighty Kafue River or using your own two feet in the form of walking safaris. Option 1
The Warm Heart of Kafue

Discover wild Africa in the heart of Kafue National Park.

Day 1 - Meet and greet at Lusaka International Airport. Travel by road (approx. 3.5 hours) or light aircraft into Kafue National Park. Overnight Ila Safari Lodge, the premier eco lodge in Kafue National Park.

Days 2 - 4 – Take part in game drives, boat cruises, walking safaris, fishing, cultural excursions or a back of house tour to showcase our eco-friendly operation. All activities are led by our expert guides. Overnight at Ila Safari Lodge.

Day 5 – After a morning activity and brunch road transfer to Musekese Camp. Settle in before heading out on an afternoon activity. Overnight Musekese Camp, a small, intimate and classically styled, traditional tented safari camp.

Days 6 – 7 – A focus on boat cruises and walking safaris. Game drives and fishing also available. Overnight Musekese Camp.

Day 8 – After a morning activity departure by road or light aircraft to Lusaka for onward travel or international departure.

Option 2
Ultimate Kafue

All the highlights of Kafue National Park. Split your time between productive central Kafue and the remote northern Busanga Plains.

Day 1 – Meet and greet at Lusaka International Airport. Travel by road (approx. 3.5 hours) or light aircraft into Kafue National Park. Overnight Ila Safari Lodge, the premier eco lodge in Kafue National Park.

Days 2 - 3 – Take part in game drives, boat cruises, walking safaris, fishing, cultural excursions or a back of house tour to showcase our eco-friendly operation. All activities are led by our expert guides. Overnight at Ila Safari Lodge.

Day 4 – After a morning activity and brunch road transfer to Musekese Camp. Settle in before heading out on an afternoon activity. A focus on boat cruises and walking safaris. Game drives and fishing also available. Overnight Musekese Camp, a small, intimate and classically styled, traditional tented safari camp.

Day 5 – Drive some 60 kms north to the edge of Busanga Plains to start your 3 night adventure mobile safari. All mobiles are privately guided with a maximum of 6 guests. The mobile camp consists of safari dome tents with veranda, comfortable mattresses and good linen inside with solar lighting. Bucket showers and a short drop toilet make up the ablutions, both well appointed and comfortable too. Camera battery charging is available through a solar panel and inverter system. A main mess tent area is available to escape the midday heat, with cold drinks and hearty meals served under the stars.

Days 6 – 7 - Explore the Busanga Plains, Moshi and Musanza areas on foot and by vehicle.

Day 8 – Make your way leisurely back south to Musekese main lodge where you will overnight.

Day 9 – Departure by road or light aircraft to Lusaka for onward travel or international departure.

Option 3
Luxury Kafue:

Explore central Kafue and the remote northern Busanga Plains in the height of luxury.

Day 1 – Meet and greet at Lusaka International Airport. Travel by road (approx. 3.5 hours) or light aircraft into Kafue National Park. Overnight Ila Safari Lodge, the premier eco lodge in Kafue National Park.

Days 2 - 3 – Take part in game drives, boat cruises, walking safaris, fishing, cultural excursions or a back of house tour to showcase our eco-friendly operation. All activities are led by our expert guides. Overnight at Ila Safari Lodge.

Day 4 – Fly north to the remote and stunning Busanga Plains. Overnight Shumba Camp, the most luxury option on the Busanga Plains.

Days 5 –6 – Explore the Busanga Plains by vehicle, boat or even hot air balloon. This area is a seasonal floodplain and the scenery can be strikingly different depending on what time of year you choose to visit.

Day 7 – Fly to Lusaka or Livingstone for international departure or onward travel.
