Zambia, often referred to as the 'the warm heart of Africa', and its citizens are renowned for their friendliness and ever present wide smiles. This vibrant melting pot of a country is made up of no less than 72 different tribes and ethnic groups each with their own dialect and set of customs. This gives Zambia a varied and rich cultural background. With it's national and widely spoken language being English, the welcoming spirit of it's people and it's reputation for abundant game in true wilderness Zambia should be on everyone's bucket list. To add to this Zambia has been recognized as one of the safest countries to visit in Africa.
Take 10 days to explore Zambia's highlights – Livingstone (Victoria Falls), the Kafue National Park and South Luangwa.
Day 1 – Meet and greet at Livingstone airport. Travel by road to Tongabezi, a romantic hideaway set on the banks of the Zambezi river upstream from the mighty Victoria Falls. Take a trip down to the falls this afternoon and be astounded by one of the 7 Natural Wonders of the World.
Days 2 –3 – Marvel at the falls, take a boat cruise or canoe trip on the Zambezi, have lunch on an island on the river, try your hand at fishing, head out mountain biking, take a game drive in Mosi-O-Tunya National Park, experience a cultural excursion or scare yourself silly with one of the many adrenaline inducing activities available at Victoria Falls such as zip lining or bungee jumping. Day 4 – Fly to Kafue National Park where you will be collected in a 4x4 game viewer and transferred to Ila Safari Lodge. Settle in before heading out on an afternoon activity. Overnight Ila Safari Lodge, the premier eco lodge in Kafue National Park.
Days 5 –6 - Take part in game drives, boat cruises, walking safaris, fishing, cultural excursions or a back of house tour to showcase our eco-friendly operation. All activities are led by our expert guides. Overnight at Ila Safari Lodge.
Day 7 – Fly or drive from Kafue to Lusaka and connect by air to Mfuwe. Here you will be collected and transferred by road (approx. 2 hours) to Tafika, a charming, rustic bush camp on the banks of the Luangwa River. Overnight Tafika.
Days 8 – 9- Explore South Luangwa on foot, by vehicle or even by mountain bike. This park is where walking safaris were born so make sure you do at least one. Overnight Tafika.
Day 10 – Travel back to Mfuwe by road and then fly on to Lusaka for international departure on onward travel.
