South Luangwa

The lush Luangwa valley, unfenced but bordered to the West by a steep escarpment and to the East by the Luangwa River teems with wildlife. The game here concentrates around the Luangwa River, and its oxbow lagoons. Hippos are abundant here, lounging in the river and lagoons, while Thornicroft's Giraffes and Cookson's Wildebeest are unique to the Luangwa valley. South Luangwa National Park is said to be the birthplace of the walking safari and this is still oneof the best parks to experience extended walking safaris with specialist walking guides.
