As part of the Victoria Falls UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, Livingstone Island is a place of immense ecological and cultural importance. Green Safaris is proud to operate the island experience with a zero-permanence, low-impact approach, ensuring that every visit leaves no trace — except lasting memories
Nothing on the island is permanent apart from the Livingstone Memorial Plaque. All dining structures, seating, and facilities are completely removable. Our team monitors water levels and weather patterns daily to ensure guest safety and environmental protection. Access is strictly seasonal, and visitor numbers are limited to preserve the island’s delicate ecosystem.
A portion of proceeds from every Livingstone Island visit directly supports Mukuni Village — the community closest to the Falls. This long-standing partnership helps fund:
Teacher housing and salaries to improve local education.
Healthcare support, including renovations to local clinics.
The development of the Mukuni Organic Community Farm, which enhances food security, provides sustainable livelihoods, and functions as a training centre for regenerative farming
Guests are warmly welcomed to visit the farm and see firsthand the difference their travel is making.
From eco-conscious operations to meaningful community reinvestment, your journey to Livingstone Island is more than a thrilling adventure — it’s a contribution to a more regenerative future for Zambia’s people and wild places.
