Dangling off the edge of Victoria Falls sounds quite exciting, doesn’t it?

Well, if it’s not already on your bucket list, it definitely needs to be added!

Ready to board the boat to Livingstone Island, we all signed our indemnity forms and were briefed about the island itself – it almost felt as if I were signing my soul away! But needless to say, I was super excited. Stepping on to the island we were welcomed with a very delicious Maheu drink and the world’s friendliest staff. It was incredible to think we had this whole island to ourselves (thanks to COVID).

After a tour around the island, we stripped down to our cozzies, put our phones in the dry bag, and were ready to swim to the edge. Our wonderful guide explained to us where to swim, and where to avoid the rocks. My Mum was with us, and very hesitant to cross – but, she did!

I mean, you can’t go all the way to Livingstone island and not look over the edge of the world-famous Victoria Falls, right?

We made it to the pool entrance safely, where my brother was the first to go join the guides at the edge, after making sure he definitely wasn’t going to wash over (nice sister, I know!), I joined him, followed by my Mum.

It was amazing, you could feel the edge where the water runs off of the falls, and where we sat, little fish nibbled on our toes (that was the scariest part for my Mum).

After a little while, it was time to swim back to our wonderful high tea awaiting us onshore. In my opinion, we chose the perfect time of day to visit the island!

The high tea was absolutely delicious (queue mouth-watering emoji), and we got to view the sunset from a completely different angle – on top of the falls! David Livingstone was positively right in saying ‘scenes so lovely, they must have been gazed upon by angels in their flight.’
