Hidden away within the western tip of a rocky knoll, our enchanting couples’ retreats - Msekwa, Khuyu and Mbungo - command sweeping views of Lake Malawi. Meanwhile, Makungulu reigns on its own private island.
But which idyll is right for you?
As you step through the arched door and down the steps into Msekwa, you will fall in love with the striking combination of creamy polished floors and stone walls. Wander out of your room, down your exclusive jetty and straight into the crystal waters.
Khuyu is the first room on the water, with easiest access to the beach and restaurant and all the peace and privacy needed for a relaxing retreat. The lantern-lit bathtub is where you’ll want to be when the sun goes down.
Built higher up the rocks, Mbungo has incredible views across the lake and Kaya Mawa beach. The bed has been built snuggly into the original beach boulders and there is space in the bedroom for a baby cot.
Perched on its own private rocky isle and draped in pink bougainvillea, Makungulu makes quite an impression before stepping foot inside. The shaded stone terrace has a cosy corner seat and dining table for two and extends to a wooden deck with loungers and a jetty.
A tranquil stone-and-thatch sanctuary nestled among the island's boulders, Msekwa offers a quiet sense of seclusion with gentle lake views. Its intimate scale makes it ideal for couples seeking privacy and a slower pace.
The room opens onto a private deck overlooking the water, while inside, handcrafted details and natural textures create a calming retreat after days spent swimming or exploring Likoma.
Set close to the shoreline, Khuyu is a characterful room with easy beach access and a relaxed, island feel. Artisanal finishes and soft natural light give the space warmth and charm.
Ideal for couples, Khuyu offers a comfortable base for days on the lake, with the beach and main areas within easy walking distance.
Mbungo combines the charm of a standard room with added flexibility, offering space for a baby cot if required. Positioned close to the beach, it is well-suited to couples travelling with an infant.
Natural materials, lake views, and a calm atmosphere make Mbungo a welcoming and practical island retreat
A cosy hideaway near the water's edge, Makungulu offers simple comfort in a peaceful natural setting. The room's proximity to the beach allows guests to slip easily between lake swims and shaded relaxation.
Handcrafted finishes and a private outdoor space complete this intimate sanctuary for two.
