At Green Safaris, each property is a distinct chapter in our tale, showcasing its own history and identity. While our eight lodges and camps offer unique experiences, they’re all part of the Green Safaris Collection, celebrating both individuality and connection. If you’ve explored one of our properties, you’ve only had a small glimpse of the adventure that awaits.

From the serene banks of the Luangwa River to the breathtaking views at Victoria Falls, the idyllic shores of Lake Malawi, and the expansive beauty of the Busanga Plains, our eight distinctive lodges and camps span two countries and six incredible destinations, crafting one of the most thrilling itineraries in Zambia and linking Malawi.

The Great Green Merge Aims to highlight the wealth of experiences available across all properties. Each one tells its own story, and we’re excited to celebrate this diversity as we work together to protect our beautiful wild spaces.

We’re thrilled to announce that our individual Instagram and Facebook pages are merging into one cohesive account. As part of this merge, our Green Safaris Facebook and Instagram pages will soon be called – ‘We are Green Safaris’ to reflect the #togetherness has inspired #TheGreatGreenMerge.

Ila Safari Lodge | Opened in 2016

Kafue National Park, Zambia

Nestled along the Kafue River in Kafue National Park, Ila Safari Lodge is a beacon of adventure and sustainability. Its logo, depicting an Ila Warrior with a distinctive ‘isusu’ hairstyle, pays homage to the warrior tribe that once roamed this land. Here, guests can revel in the luxury of safari tents complete with outdoor bathtubs while witnessing playful elephants and other wildlife from the comfort of their deck. Unique experiences include silent safaris in electric vehicles and solar-powered boat cruises, ensuring an eco-friendly exploration of this vibrant ecosystem.

Ila is not just a lodge; it’s the heart of Green Safaris, having set the foundation for its eco-conscious mission. With an emphasis on using locally sourced materials and renewable energy, Ila has earned accolades for its sustainability efforts, including the ‘Best Zambian Eco-Lodge Award’ in 2016. Embracing the natural beauty of Kafue, it offers an intimate connection with wildlife, featuring a diverse array of species from leopards to over 400 bird varieties, all while ensuring minimal impact on the environment.

Kaya Mawa Island Lodge | Joined the Green Family in 2018

Likoma Island, Lake Malawi

Kaya Mawa Island Lodge blends luxurious living with the laid-back vibe of Lake Malawi. Its logo, depicting a sailing boat beneath a radiant sun, reflects the spirit of adventure that defines this idyllic escape. Set on Likoma Island, Kaya Mawa invites guests to step directly onto sandy beaches, with activities ranging from snorkeling to indulging in exquisite dining experiences. Meaning ‘maybe tomorrow’ in Chichewa, the lodge embodies a relaxed ethos where every day can be an adventure—or simply a time to unwind.

Opened in 2004 and known for its sustainable practices, Kaya Mawa is the first resort in Malawi powered entirely by renewable energy. Each room is seamlessly integrated into the island’s stunning landscape, offering stunning views and proximity to nature. Celebrated for its culinary delights sourced from our local community garden and its community-focused initiatives, Kaya Mawa is a perfect blend of indulgence and ethical travel, making it a cherished destination for honeymooners and families alike.

Tongabezi Lodge & Sindabezi Island Lodge | Joined the Green Family in 2020

Livingstone, Zambia

Nestled just upstream from the breathtaking Victoria Falls, Tongabezi Lodge is a luxurious retreat that combines romance and adventure. Since its inception in 1990, this lodge has evolved into one of Africa’s Most Romantic Safari Properties, showcasing uniquely designed houses and cottages inspired by local artistry. Guests can enjoy personalized service, private river dining, and a variety of activities, including river cruises and spa treatments. With its electric-powered eco-boat, Tongabezi ensures low-impact exploration of the Zambezi River, making every detail of your stay unforgettable amidst the African wilderness.

Just 12 km from Victoria Falls, Sindabezi Island Lodge is a hidden gem founded by the visionaries behind Tongabezi. Renowned for its eco-friendly approach, Sindabezi features only four thatched chalets that immerse guests in nature with stunning river views. Originally a basic camp, it has transformed into a luxurious escape, where open-fronted chalets invite the sounds of wildlife. Whether indulging in gourmet meals or simply enjoying the serene surroundings, Sindabezi offers a unique connection to the landscape and its rich biodiversity, perfectly complementing the Tongabezi experience.

Shawa Luangwa Camp | Opened in 2021

South Luangwa National Park, Zambia

Shawa Luangwa Camp invites you to immerse yourself in the heart of nature with unique tents boasting sunken outdoor bathtubs and sweeping views of the Luangwa River. Nestled in the renowned South Luangwa National Park—dubbed “The Valley of the Leopard”—this eco-friendly camp offers silent e-vehicle and walking safaris, guided by experts who ensure an enriching experience. Expect delightful bush meals, refreshing dips in the plunge pool (often shared with curious elephants), and stunning sunset sundowners that create unforgettable moments.

Inspired by the magnificent Thornicroft giraffe, a subspecies found only in this region, our logo reflects the beauty of this gentle giant, reminding us of the urgent need for conservation. Named after the legendary Zambian guide Jacob Shawa, the camp celebrates both the local wildlife and the community. With a location carefully chosen by Jacob himself, guests can easily traverse the park’s prime game-viewing areas by crossing the river on a pontoon. Shawa Luangwa Camp not only offers incredible wildlife encounters but also embodies the spirit of Zambian wilderness.

Chisa Busanga Camp | Opened in 2021

Busanga Plains, Zambia

Chisa Busanga Camp lies nestled in the remote Busanga Plains, a wildlife haven where lions outnumber humans. This extraordinary destination features four exclusive “nests”—a fresh take on safari accommodation that promises guests both privacy and comfort amidst breathtaking views. Here, the stunning floodplains come alive with leaping lechwe and majestic lions, all set against the backdrop of stunning Busanga sunsets that bathe the landscape in a dreamy pink hue.

The camp’s name, meaning “bird’s nest” in Nyanja, reflects its architectural inspiration drawn from the nests of weaver birds. Our logo, featuring a tree reminiscent of the iconic Sausage Tree, captures the spirit of this unique experience. Built on a small island, Chisa Busanga Camp runs entirely on solar power, reinforcing our commitment to sustainability. Designed by founder Vincent alongside architect Bert Meerstadt, the camp harmoniously blends luxury with the natural beauty of the Busanga Plains, creating an unforgettable retreat for nature enthusiasts.

Sausage Tree Camp  & Potato Bush Camp| Joined the Green Family in 2023

Lower Zambezi National Park, Zambia

Nestled in the heart of Lower Zambezi National Park, both Sausage Tree Camp and Potato Bush Camp offer exceptional safari experiences where nature’s beauty reigns supreme. Sausage Tree Camp, a jewel of luxury since 1996, features lavish tents with stunning views of the Zambezi River.
