Capturing the authentic African bush camp experience in true Tongabezi luxury and style, Sindabezi Island is ‘nature therapy’ for the soul.
Enjoy views of the Zambezi River floodplain and Victoria Falls National Park from your open-fronted Chalet, knowing your only neighbours are the resident wildlife. Quiet hang-out spots and the main camp beckon you to unwind amidst the tranquillity of this tiny isle, just 12km upstream from Victoria Falls.
With zero grid dependence, Sindabezi is one of Africa’s top 10 eco lodges according to Fodor's. So the only footprints you will leave behind are in the island’s silky soft sand.
Our five thatched Chalets are designed to blend into the Zambezi wilderness, bringing elements of nature indoors so that you are completely immersed in island living whenever possible.
Sindabezi Island Camp is open year-round.
Where else do you travel to and from your lodge in a speed boat, game and bird watching on the way. Our room was large with wonderful views overlooking the river and stunning sunsets. In the morning, our butler brought our tea, but we were already up and watching the large variety of beautiful birds. The food was great and more than plentiful with lovely fresh vegetables and salads all grown at Tongabezi.

While Captain Ronald (the closest you will come to meeting a real-life Indiana Jones) takes you over the sparkling Zambezi and its multicoloured banks, you descend on this pearl of an island. This short boat trip, which we took nearing sundown, forebode our stay on the island - you don’t have words for it, it is phenomenal. From the staff’s hospitality and delicious meals to the all-surrounding wildlife, this small river getaway is a once-in-a-lifetime’s experience.
Our multi-generational family stayed for three nights over new year's. Ronald, our boat captain/guide, was wonderful! He shared lots of knowledge about the animals, the river, Zambia. On the island, Lawrence and his staff make you feel like family and are very accommodating to needs of kids (we had two teenagers with us). We had a mobility issue with my mom and the staff was ALWAYS available to help her on the island.
